After having the 078 for more than a year and a half, I'm happy to report that my love for it and for the incredible pour-over it makes has only grown.
Compared with every other grinder in my life, the 078 makes the most consistent, balanced and just plain enjoyable cups. My context for grinder comparison is small but distinguished. Starting with the least costly/exotic, I have a Kingrinder K6 hand grinder. For my espresso kit, I recently bought a DF64V with SSP MP burrs. Finally, at my
place of work I have access to a costly Kafatek Monolith Max with Kafatek's multi-purpose burrs.
These are all respectable, and in some cases, legendary grinders. But for the kind of pour-over I make, which is exclusively lighter roasted single origin coffees, nothing comes close to the 078 and I miss it when I drink coffee ground with these other grinders.
I did have a problem with the start/stop button on my 078, which stopped working consistently over time. Timemore was extremely responsive with diagnostic support. When they determined that the switch needed replacement, they immideately sent me a replacement switch and extended very courteous support via email.
My criticisms of the design of the grinder are two-fold. The first is the grinders well-known popcorning issue, for which I bought a custom extended hopper fitting that largely remedied the issue.
My second criticism is the lack of high-quality video (or at least graphic) instructions showing people how to adjust the range of fineness or coarseness this grinder is capable of. It seems to me the range of coarseness this grinder is capable of without adjusting the hidden pin underneath the dial is extremely narrow. Particularly if someone needs a course or grind for larger batch pourovers or French press for example, the stock courseness range will not do, and a user will be forced to struggle through the the coarseness calibration process largely on their own or with the sport of verbal instructions which is simply insufficient in my opinion. It is possible to get the adjustment process wrong and end up making a very scarry metal on metal grinding sound.
That said, the 078 is is an amazing grinder and I'm so glad I bought it - worth every penny!

I upgraded from the Ode Gen 2. The 078 is more quiet and powerful. Thus far I have not experience any jams and am impressed with the rotary tamper.

I'm very happy with it. I make coffee in a Turkish coffee pot, and the grind for this method is very fine and sensitive to overheating. This coffee grinder has lived up to my expectations—the coffee doesn't overheat in it!

Purchased this for my husband to celebrate a recent milestone, and he couldn't be happier! Our coffee - both pour-over and espresso - has been especially delicious recently. The grinder is also relatively quiet which is super nice. Love that it's heavy duty but sleek in our countertop!

Just pulled my first shot using this grinder for light roasted beans and wow. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to espresso dialing and my old grinder had just hit the end of it's serviacable life. Even after replacing its old burrs, my old grinder would come out clumpy and be impossible to adjust to a fine enough grind size to get shots at the time I was looking for. With the 078SSP, I the instructions provided a suggested range for espresso and a RPM guide for the light roasted beans I was using. The first shot was within my acceptable time range and produced excellent crema. Finally, it was just so quiet. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thanks!

Beautifully sculpted single dose grinder. Love the way the "knocker" works and keeps everything clean and tidy. The stepless adjustment is super precise and easy to use. The only drawback is the feeder hopper which is a bit messy and does not allow for "hot starting".

Excellent grinder for espresso!

Very premium feel its sturdy nice to use and surprisingly quite the coffee is supper juicy and easy to dial in it makes an excellent cup super sweet. Upgrading from a fellow ode trying to get a cup more like what you can get at cafe like an ek43 whitch the ode lacks, I am very happy over all not as clear but less astringency in the cup and not as thin bodied as the ode, its build quality is miles better and the motor isnt winney. Only made about 10 cups so far after season with 2 kilos of old beans and it is super forgiving, over all the cups are super approachable 10/10.

This Timemore manual grinder is an outstanding piece of kit, especially for its price point. It's clear from your setup that you appreciate a good cup of pour-over, and this grinder is the perfect companion for that.

Worth the price.

Loving the consistency of the grind, retention is a little higher than I expected. Even though it is a do it all grinder and seems to do it very well.. there are some annoyances. The cup is quite small so if you get a bigger hopper (that they sell) its extemely easy to overflow the magnetic cup if you are making anything more than 2-3 servings. I bought a magnetic point mod to be able to see the settings easier. The rpms are in a bad spot so you end up almost never using that feature. Im not an expert in coffee grinders but the espresso im getting now is on another level compared to cheap grinders from before, same with pour over. So no complaints in grind quality, but design and workflow wise- there is quite a bit to be desired.
