Dot: A Coffee Scale Small Enough to Actually Take With You
The scale is usually the first thing to get left behind.
You pack the grinder, the dripper, the filters. Then you look at the scale — and leaving it behind seems like an easy way to save on space. So you decide to eyeball it, and spend the weekend guessing at weights and ratios you'd never approximate on your own counter.
Dot is 80mm across, 14mm thick, and weighs 50g. It comes in a zip case about the size of a pair of earbuds. There's no version of your bag it doesn't fit in.
Small, but not approximate
Shrinking a scale usually costs you something, and it's normally accuracy.
Dot starts weighing at 0.2g and goes up to 1200g, with accuracy within 0.1g. Readouts down to the decimal are one of the first things to go on travel scales, and they're still rare on most kitchen scales. Dot makes it possible to bring exceptional accuracy and resolution with you, wherever you brew.
There's another quirk: the same weight can read differently depending on where it sits on the platform. Our own scales have always been rectangular, and a good part of the engineering in each of them goes into making sure you get the same measurement wherever you place your equipment. We even have a user-accessible calibration mode, if you happen to have a professional weighing kit sitting around.
Dot is a dot. Round, 80mm, and barely wider than the thing you're putting on it — so whatever you set down lands in the middle, because there's nowhere else for it to land. It's an ideal shape for an accurate scale, hence the name is not a coincidence.
To maintain this small form factor, we left out the screen. To make Dot useful as a coffee scale, we had to make data transmission fast. We decided to include a Bluetooth 5.2 chip, and even built a custom app around it. The result is a readout that tracks your pour in real time, not half a second behind.
One button, one port
There's a single button on the underside: press to turn it on, hold to pair. That's the entire interface.
The Type-C port next to it is sealed against splashes — a small but important feature on a device that spends its life next to hot water.
We wanted to make Dot incredibly simple. Charge it, flip it, use it. A full charge runs about 180 five-minute brews, so for most people it's a few months between charges.
The other half of it is on your phone
As we said, Dot has no screen. That's deliberate — the screen you already own is bigger and better, and it's where the interesting part lives.
Pair over Bluetooth and open the TIMEMORE app. Pick pourover or espresso mode, and the brew shows up live: weight, time, and your flow rate as a curve you can actually watch. Every brew is saved, so you can go back and see what you did differently on the one that worked.
There's a bean log for tracking what you're drinking, and a recipe library to keep everything straight.
And there's a feed. The Community tab is what we're most excited for — it gives you a place to share what works and learn from others. 23 clicks, 92°C, Kenya. How are world champions brewing their washed Gesha nowadays? Is there really a perfect Bripe recipe? The TIMEMORE Community gives you a way to find out. Weighing your coffee alone is bookkeeping; weighing it where other people can see what you tried is something else entirely.
Six colours
Most of all, we wanted to make Dot fun. So we made it in six different colours: black, white, green, blue, pink, and yellow. Each one comes with a grippy colour-matched silicone mat and its own hard travel case. Since most coffee gear is either black, white, or our nemesis — stainless steel — we thought something bright and cheerful would round things out nicely.

Do I need the app to use the TIMEMORE Dot?
Yes. Dot has no screen — the readout, the timer and everything else live in the TIMEMORE app, so pairing a phone is part of using it. That's the trade that gets the scale down to 14mm and 50g. As for connectivity, it reconnects on its own; you only need to pair it again when you reach for a new phone.
How much can the TIMEMORE Dot weigh, and how accurately?
Dot weighs from 0.2g up to 1200g, within 0.1g up to 500g. It's optimised for lighter weights, since most people's brews and equipment are less than half a kilo.
How long does a charge last?
About 15 hours of use — roughly 180 pourovers. A full charge takes around 2.5 hours over Type-C.
Can I use the TIMEMORE Dot for espresso?
Yes — the app has an Espresso mode alongside Pourover mode. Dot is very small, so chances are it will fit under your espresso machine.
